This is a strong but quiet machine, went through 5 layers of quilting with ease, no thread breakage, a consistent, smooth and flawless machine. This feels more solid as well, compared to my sister’s Brother 1034d serger I’ve hardly ever had to change settings, the default tensions go well with most fabrics. The “upgrade” wasn’t.These are excellent, very easy to use sergers, but very expensive. I have been sewing and quilting for over 15 years.Something that took a good 5 mins on my sewing machine can now be done in about 90 seconds! I’m in love! And, I know with the Juki name, it’ll take whatever I give it.It still runs but the little tension hiccups were making me mad so it was cost effective to get a new one. It’s super quiet for a serger, as many of them are quite loud.I think this has been a very good choice for me as a complete beginner. To me, the hardest part is threading the needles themselves! I have used it with cotton fabric as well as knits.First off, I ordered the machine “used-like new” from the warehouse deals.I was planning to buy a Baby Lock for myself. No issues.I couldn’t wait to get this thing to make my purses and aprons.I was going to originally get the Brother 1034D, but was hesitant because I used to own a Brother sewing machine that was an Amazon best seller with hundreds of great reviews…but I ended up hating it and selling it and lost hours of frustrated sewing time with errors it made. The biggest word of advice I can give is on the threading. It does a very nice job of edging the material.

I sew for a few baby apparel companies and regularly need to serge knits.Love the light.Since it was a looper thread, I was forced to conquer threading without tying on new threads.(I also own an old Bernina and industrial Brother.I am a beginner and I am using the serger for the first time .She is now using that older model as a dedicated rolled hem machine for garment construction. When I started researching I looked at the BabyLock Evolution but was not impressed with the quality of the rolled hem or the price and actually wound up purchasing an industrial Juki MO-6604 which does a beautiful rolled hem and the price of the industrial, compared to BabyLock – well — there’s just no comparison.I have been sewing for almost 40 years and appreciate the ease of this machine. The 654de is so easy to use and it runs smoothly.and I’m so so happy I decided on the JUKI MO654DE.It’s so steady and easy to use. This one, I dare I like more than then my others. It does a pretty good job at showing you how to thread the machine and also how to set it up.It’s a purchase I have not regretted and if I was recommending a machine this would be the one! Accepts regular needles.i’ve only ever done the little domestic models that were singers and brothers and figured it probably had to be worth the extra hundred or so to upgrade and i’m glad i followed my gut.I don’t think you could do better at this price point. My old machine has now become #2….

A little complicated to thread is all.I watched a video to make sure I was threading it properly and the performance has been flawless. It’s a workhorse! It serges quickly and smoothly, it’s low on noise, and it never has trouble with layers.Easy to use too; the instructions tell you exactly what to do.I was able to thread it initially by tying the new threads to the ones installed, but after owning it a few weeks and having to re-thread a few times due to my own errors, I have found it really is fairly simple to do it.This company clearly makes the Bernina machines, and I sold my fancy Bernina to buy this and came out ahead.I left a review like this before. It was easy to transfer my thread through the machine.)I watched a ton of YouTube videos about threading this gem while I waited for it to arrive. It arrived threaded, and all 4 tensions were tuned to perfection. This machine is way quieter, doesn’t vibrate my whole desk, and is much quicker! Threading was tricky but once I did it once, I got it down! 100% recommend as an upgrade or to a beginner! Iʻve used a Baby Lock and a Singer serger.Am new to serging and working with knits but this machine has made it so much fun and is an absolute joy to use.” What I mean is that, I can leave it on a certain setting and the tension still comes out great on a variety of fabrics ranging in fabric content and weight. I upgraded to this Juki from my Brother 1034D and couldn’t be happier. But after lots of research & reading reviews I bought this Juki model.Threading is not hard once you learn it, the guides really help and there are lots of YouTube videos on this machine.I watched a couple of you tube videos on threading procedures in anticipation of its arrival.Missing all the additional parts.
