I bought one 8 years ago and wore it out.Other brands didn’t seem to have the same reputation for machines manufactured in the past several years.I called the manufacturer and they told me I had to go to Georgia for service, which is on the opposite side of the country for me.As an adult, I have been making trips to her house to use her machine when needed.Pros:-Setup for everything you could possibly want to do with the exception of a lot of random “fancy” stitches like swirls and such, which I don’t like to use anyway, or embroidery which drives up the price of a machine by a lot lot.I feel it is a wonderful machine to use and learn on.I prefer to fix pants length and jacket sleeves myself as it’s easier for me to do it to my liking then to explain it to others.I was able to start sewing immediately and it’s really easy.Just a plastic machine, really. This is my first Janome.I have never taken a class or had anyone tell me how to use this machine.Powerful, lightweight, great for beginners. So I gave my high-end sewing machine and serger to my daughter who loves to sew .Pros:– the price was right– 25 year warranty.I can sew through several layers of fabric and it runs like a work horse.I deal with a lot of faux fur so I was a bit nervous but so far, with the right needles, this baby does just fine with multiple layers of fur and fleece though I do still take it slow on those thick layers just to be safe.I realized my limitations and made this purchase; this machine is a pleasure to use, VERY easy to understand and does a fabulous job – Thank you to all that left such convincing feedback which led to my purchase, I could not be happier. The mailman delivered it today, and I opened it right there on the front porch ,and began working on the table out there. All check out ✔️.

One of my main concerns was being able to sew through fleece material. My kid is new to sewing and the lack of speed control was overwhelming.I bought middle range as I just needed a simple tool that was easy to set-up, by the directions, easy to spin the bobbin, by the directions, easy to thread, again by the directions, and easy to do my first lines of stitching.I wanted a machine that could handle the lightest and the heaviest I could throw at it without hiccuping or giving me more grief.I recently decided I’d like to be able to make some things, and after some consideration, decided to get my own sewing machine.I’m glad I invested the additional money to get this version.I miss the simplicity of a Singer. So far I’ve used it for hemming some men’s slacks and replacing a sleeping bag zipper and handled both jobs beautifully. The machine I got the longest service out of is a 43 year old Kenmore..I hadn’t touched a sewing machine since freshman year home ec, so my endeavor into the sewing world was quite the learning experience. But I do find some problems.I’m learning to sew and bought this machine about 9 months ago.The 2212 has all the basic features .THE biggest thing for me was the zigzag stitch, my old machine never would do the zigzag for a full row and it was so frustrating.I have a New Home still and it still works, but can’t find certain parts.I later found out my Home Ec Teacher Cousin owns 3 Janomes.I have an older Montgomery Wards Signature which was an excellent machine in its day.I love that the bobbin is not made of plastic.I’m no expert and I can make a dress if I have so I would say my sewing needs and expertise are moderate.

It was a great model but as a someone with NO experience I was really lost so I found it hard to work with it.I had other manufacturers of machines and always heard that Janome machines were excellent and they are.I did exhaustive research on the subject for two years.I was able to up my cloth wipes and from there I have made a few masks ad scrunchies hoping to learn how to make clothes pretty quickly It has just enough features to handle everything I need to do, just a couple control dials rather than a big electrical panel .I hauled that Singer around for 27 years.I only wanted to do lap quilts or bags. I like that the machine was easy to setup and begin using right away.I can’t believe how affordable it is because the build quality and superior performance screams expensive! I was fortunate to buy the last one before they sold out last week and SO glad I got it!!! I purchased this machine 7 years ago. After a few months, I realized I really need my sewing machine, as my alterations were piling up.I have tried cheap ones and they are just that cheap and do not work.I hemmed twill pants and had no trouble getting the machine over the thickness of the seams.I bought this machine after reading a large number of reviews on every possible competitor at a range of price points.I bought it replace the Kenmore portable that I’ve had for about 20 years.Very happy with this machine! Also it is very light, easy to carry, and comes with a plastic cover for storage.
