A tad bit complicated with the upper thread but once you get used to it, there is no problems.I make weighted blankets to sell, and during the holiday season I’m sewing up to 12 hours every day at moderate to high speeds. My husband commented that he thought it would be loud when sewing, but it runs smooth.I make bags and purses from vinyl and waterproof canvas with absolutely no issues.Used it faithfully. So far, this machine is great.I wanted to wait to write my review so I could have a well formed opinion of the machine.I’ve had really good luck with Brother machines, and this machine had more of the features I needed for the setup I was creating so I decided to go for it.While the machine has many positive qualities, the negatives are significant enough that I’m considering returning it.Sews like it’s going through butter.5 years. It goes straight and back.I’d say that it works for beginners, but I want to emphasize that this kind of machine does one thing, but does it well: straight stitch. While the Babylock machine has good reviews as well, the Brother had all of the functionality of Jane at a price point which allowed me to purchase the high speed machine I needed, as well as buy a laptop which I also needed for my business. At that time, never having used a sewing machine, I just wanted to learn and understand it.I tried two other Singer sewing machine and they just weren’t any better than the Brother machine I already have.I absolutely love it.” which I use more than the walking foot for quilting, needle down switch , the speed, and especially the very large throat space.I will try to be quick and to the point on the pros and cons I have found, although it’s sometimes difficult to be brief on a machine of this caliperPros First:*I absolutely love the large throat space and can easily quilt everything from table runners to lap quilts and wall hangings.

The pluses are the adjustable feed dog settings, especially the “pin feed.I hand-quilted one, which I enjoyed, but I decided I wanted to try machine quilting.I have not taken a sewing class yet, and have taken only 2 quilting classes just so you know.I’ve used it to sew multiple layers of nylon webbing and it doesn’t struggle a bit.It is made for lefthanded persons.I use industrial Jukis at school, and I wanted something similar for home, but without the mandatory table and vat of oil.I love that machine.I still have my old White, that I can jerry rig to do zigzag if need be, so this will take care of 99.But….I can only use pricier threads, or it’ll get shredded.Comes with all needed attachments for quilting.I have a habit of “putting the pedal to the metal” but you have to be careful with this machine and I have to make myself slow down some. I’m not a beginner but this machine is a work horse for straight stitching. It sews faster than a sports car which is scary at first until you can learn to control the speed.Recently I picked back up with quilting. The extra table top is a plus.I have only used this machine BRIEFLY to do straight stitching, piecing a quilt top.I wasn’t very happy with the results of the little machine – very hard to regulate the speed and therefore my stitches came out pretty uneven.I had read some reviews on the difficulty of threading this machine, but I didn’t have any issues with threading it at all.

I love it.I just free motion quilted a whole quilt on it and it was amazing! Granted it was only a lap quilt but it was the proverbial piece of cake!! I have done king-size quilts on my regular machine and had been looking for a larger throated machine to make things easier, and this machine does it!! I really like that it has a thread cutter and a threader, and up/down needle setting, too.I would recommend this machine affordable to anyone Love this machine! I had a more standard Brother HS 2000 sewing machine that has served me well for 10 years.I love this machine and wish I had found it earlier. For straight stitching! Super fast and quiet!Able to see a quilt top together super fast!Does not matter what thread used here.Rough start – want to send much thanks to previous reviewers with tips.I LOVE it.and the Bobbin housing is a nightmare ! One can spend easily a half an hour trying to get the bobbin to rest in the correct place ! Why in gods name they made a side entrance instead of a drop bobbin housing is completely beyond me.I love the thread cutter on it, and the extended work space , so so nice, and the speed, wow! I did give it a 4 1/2 star because, with my other little short arm brother machine , it has a drop in bobbin, and you can see when you are running out of bobbin thread.Wish I would have purchased long time ago, not sure what took so long.I almost didn’t buy it because I wanted an industrial machine. All the frustrations I had with my beginner sewing machine vanished! It just works all the time that I had a renewed motivation to sew all kinds of projects! It just makes sense to have the right tools.I bought it 2 or 3 months ago and I use it just for making quilts. This machine was worth every single penny. My machine is LESS then 90 days and needed maintence. However, buying it online like this means it hasn’t had the benefit of an initial tune-up from a dealer.Works flawlessly for everything I have sewn or quilted. It is really annoying when you are sewing and notice that you have about 12 inches of the item not sewn.
